Speedcast surpasses sale of 10,000 Starlink kits milestone
Speedcast has achieved a milestone, surpassing the sale of 10,000 Starlink kits as of November 2024.
Two years ago, Speedcast became the first authorised integrator globally of Starlink's low-latency, low Earth orbit service for enterprise and maritime sectors. It has since integrated Starlink into the services of over a third of its customer base across various applications, including maritime and enterprise sectors. This integration includes Starlink as a primary, multipath, or dual-LEO service. Speedcast has also been at the forefront of testing and performance assessments of Starlink, aiding customers in leveraging these insights to enhance their remote site operations.
James Trevelyan, Executive Vice President, Global Sales at Speedcast, commented, "Starlink's performance means that it has rapidly become a key component of Speedcast's expansive connectivity toolkit. Next year, we look forward to the introduction of a 99.9% SLA from Starlink, representing just one of the developments that will further drive sales growth in 2025." He also highlighted the upcoming release of their SIGMA Edge Networking software, which promises enhanced visibility and control at remote sites.
Speedcast's significant portfolio includes various connectivity options, leveraging its SIGMA platform to integrate Starlink with LEO, GEO, MEO VSAT options, and additional technologies like L-band, 4G/LTE, microwave, and fibre. This integration depends on the customer's specific requirements and operational environment. The company's Starlink expertise extends into challenging regions such as the Arctic and Antarctic, providing network services for polar exploration vessels and research operations.
Speedcast's notable implementations include the first fleet-wide Starlink deployment in the cruise sector and establishing remote vehicle and railway connectivity for major mining, construction, and logistics companies. These deployments underscore the versatility and wide-reaching application of Starlink technology in different sectors.
