Trilliant to showcase AI grid-edge tech at DISTRIBUTECH

Fri, 30th Jan 2026

Trilliant is set to take part in DISTRIBUTECH International 2026 in San Diego as an Innovator Sponsor, speaker and exhibitor, with a focus on advanced metering infrastructure communications networks and grid-edge data platforms.

The company said it will run live demonstrations at Booth #1601 and take part in two knowledge hub sessions during the event. Trilliant operates across Canada, the US, Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

DISTRIBUTECH International draws utility executives, grid operators and technology suppliers. The programme centres on power transmission and distribution systems, utility communications and grid digitalisation.

Trilliant said it plans to present technology for utility communications and distribution networks. It described its platform as interoperable and device-independent. The company said utilities can adopt a phased approach to modernisation and avoid large-scale platform replacement.

Executive remarks

Jim Madej, President and CEO at Trilliant, said utilities face a shift in operational requirements as distributed energy resources grow and grid data volumes rise.

"The future grid demands more than connectivity. It requires real‐time intelligence and choice. The grid is becoming more distributed and data‐driven, so we're evolving our platform from secure AMI connectivity to edge‐based intelligence, and deepening partnerships to help utilities prepare for tomorrow while managing today," said Madej.

Trilliant said its show floor demonstrations will cover communications modernisation and grid-edge intelligence. The company said it will present options that do not require a single network architecture.

It also said it will demonstrate how utilities can move from periodic data collection to near real-time operational data. The company said this approach uses device-independent intelligence.

Partner presence

AZX, a partner working with Trilliant on AI-related work, will also have a presence at the Trilliant booth, according to the company.

Trilliant described AZX as a provider of AI transformation services for energy and utility organisations. The two companies said they have worked on an approach for an AI-enabled intelligent network.

Trilliant said the joint work links Trilliant's platform with AI techniques. It also said the approach targets distribution operations and grid-edge decision-making.

Session topics

Trilliant is scheduled to appear in two knowledge hub sessions. Steven Lupo, Managing Director, North America at Trilliant, is due to speak at the Innovative and Emerging Technology Knowledge Hub at Booth #143. Daniel Arbour, President & CEO, Oshawa Power, is listed as a co-speaker.

The session description points to the growth of distributed energy resources such as rooftop solar, electric vehicles and smart HVAC systems. It also refers to AI, digital twins, microgrids and software-as-a-service models.

A second session lists Ilia Alexeev, Director of Customer Solutions at Trilliant, at the Digitalizing the Grid Knowledge Hub at Booth #6045. The session description focuses on distribution grid observability and control, continuous sensing, advanced analytics and cybersecurity-by-design. It also points to interoperability standards across vendors and jurisdictions.

Booth activity

At Booth #1601, Trilliant said it will run interactive sessions and live demonstrations. It said the demonstrations will cover long-term connectivity and AI-based analytics for grid operations.

The company also said it will host booth receptions during the event. It listed food, craft beer and wine among the planned refreshments.

Madej said utilities face operational pressure from increasing data volumes and the move towards processing closer to the edge of the network.

"As intelligence moves closer to the grid edge, utilities need actionable insight to manage large amounts of data, without adding network strain or complexity. That's where Trilliant and our partners come in, delivering connectivity and edge intelligence that utilities need to accelerate the energy transition across the grid and behind the meter," said Madej.
