Ubigi, Tripsora tie eSIM data to AI travel planning
Ubigi and Tripsora have partnered to link mobile data eSIM purchasing with AI-based travel planning. They say the integration will help travellers avoid unexpected roaming costs.
Under the arrangement, Ubigi's travel eSIM is available within Tripsora's travel-planning platform. Tripsora users can browse Ubigi data plans and promotions during the planning process, rather than arranging connectivity separately.
The integration targets a common gap in trip preparation: many travellers book flights, accommodation and activities in advance, but leave mobile connectivity until departure. That often leads to last-minute airport purchases or relying on roaming on arrival.
Both businesses are framing the partnership around roaming costs, citing examples of charges exceeding USD $200 per trip. They also say the integrated eSIM offering can cut costs by up to 75% per gigabyte compared with traditional roaming.
How it works
The integration centres on an eSIM, a digital SIM profile that can be installed on compatible devices without a physical SIM card. Ubigi sells prepaid mobile data plans that can be activated ahead of travel, with coverage in more than 200 destinations.
Ubigi is a brand of Transatel, part of NTT Group. It sells mobile internet plans for travellers, mobile workers and connected-vehicle owners, using Transatel's telecommunications network and commercial agreements with more than 350 mobile operators.
Tripsora offers an AI-powered travel-planning service that builds itineraries based on user preferences, budget and travel style. The platform uses real-time travel data and automated recommendations, according to the company.
The joint pitch is that connectivity becomes another step in trip planning. A user building an itinerary in Tripsora can add a Ubigi data plan and have connectivity ready on landing.
Launch promotions
The rollout includes promotions for Tripsora users, including 500 MB of complimentary global data and a 15% discount on a first data-plan purchase.
The offering is prepaid and contract-free, a structure common across travel eSIM products that are typically sold as fixed allowances for a country, region or global package.
For travellers, the sales pitch is straightforward: pay upfront for an allowance and avoid bill shock. For travel platforms, the integration adds another purchase option within the planning workflow, alongside transport and accommodation.
"Connectivity shouldn't be an afterthought in travel planning," said Begüm Yağız, Ubigi Travel Partners Sales Manager. "This partnership allows travelers to secure reliable, affordable data before they even board the plane, transforming connectivity from a pain point into a seamless part of the journey."
"Our mission is to make travel planning effortless and intelligent," said Mohammed Ali, founder of Tripsora. "Partnering with Ubigi ensures our users don't just plan incredible journeys-they stay connected throughout them. No surprises, no stress, just seamless connectivity wherever their itinerary takes them."
Market context
The travel eSIM market has expanded rapidly as handset makers added eSIM support across flagship smartphones and as travellers became more comfortable buying digital plans online. The model also gained traction as consumers sought alternatives to public Wi‑Fi and high roaming tariffs on domestic contracts.
Competition includes specialist eSIM providers and mobile operators selling travel add-ons. Travel booking firms and airlines have also experimented with bundling connectivity, particularly for frequent travellers and business customers.
Ubigi says its service works across smartphones, tablets, laptops, SD‑WAN routers and connected vehicles. It also pointed to existing automotive integrations, including BMW, Stellantis, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover.
For Tripsora, the partnership adds connectivity to an itinerary product that already combines transport, activities and scheduling. Tripsora says its platform serves millions of travellers worldwide.
The integrated eSIM option is available through Tripsora's platform, with the launch promotions available to Tripsora users.
