OPPO launches Watch X2 in NZ with premium health features at NZD $649

Today

OPPO has launched its new Watch X2 smartwatch in New Zealand, offering a range of features designed for durability and health tracking.

The Watch X2 builds upon the previous year's Watch X with enhancements in endurance, health monitoring and battery life, housed in a refined design. The smartwatch introduces military-grade durability standards and medical-grade health tracking, emphasising OPPO's approach to practical, long-lasting wearable technology.

The brand positions the Watch X2 as offering features more usually associated with pricier competitors, incorporating flagship-level performance with premium materials at a recommended retail price of NZD $649.

OPPO New Zealand Country Manager Morgan Halim highlighted the device's suitability for the local market. "Kiwis are active, health-conscious and style-savvy – and the Watch X2 was built with that in mind. It combines medical-grade health features, military-grade durability and smart features that keep you connected in one beautifully designed piece of tech. With flagship performance at an exceptional value, it's a smartwatch that's ready to go the distance."

The Watch X2 is available in two colour options: Lava Black, featuring a fluorine rubber strap, and Summit Blue, paired with a classic leather band. Its casing is made from polished stainless steel with a titanium alloy bezel, and the product uses an eco-friendly PVD coating. The device's 1.5-inch OLED display is equipped with ultra-bright visibility and protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass.

The smartwatch is certified IP68 for dust and water resistance, 5ATM water-resistant, and has passed MIL-STD-810H testing, indicating its ability to withstand environments ranging from urban commutes to outdoor leisure activities.

The device features a dual-chip system with Snapdragon W5 and BES2800BP processors, aimed at delivering efficient multitasking and energy usage. The integration with Wear OS by Google enables real-time functions such as checking messages and media playback. According to OPPO, overall performance has improved compared to the previous model, while battery life now extends up to five days in Smart Mode or up to 16 days in Power Saver Mode. This longevity is attributed to OPPO's Silicon-Carbon Battery technology. The Watch VOOC Flash Charge technology allows a ten-minute charge to deliver up to 24 hours of use.

Health monitoring has been a major focus of the Watch X2's design. The new 60-second Health Check-In provides a swift overview of key health metrics by tracking heart rate, blood oxygen levels and wrist temperature within a minute of wearing the watch. Additional health tools include certified ECG capabilities, stress monitoring based on heart rate variability and advanced sleep tracking that can assess for apnea and irregular breathing patterns. All these data points are accessible through the OHealth app.

The Watch X2 features an expanded library of more than 100 workout modes for users tracking their fitness. Notably, it includes new dedicated sports tracking for tennis and badminton, with capabilities to capture metrics such as stroke type and swing count—capabilities that were not present in the previous iteration. The watch's dual-frequency GPS is described as being ultra-precise, providing further utility to those who want detailed training feedback, whether casual or professional athletes.

For connectivity, the Watch X2 leverages Wear OS by Google to allow users to take calls, reply to messages, control music and use Google Wallet for contactless payments without needing to access their phones. The wearable also supports applications such as Google Maps, as well as options to download watch faces and sync notifications with smartphones. OPPO notes that this iteration provides a faster and more intuitive interface experience than before.

The OPPO Watch X2 is now available for purchase in New Zealand, in both Lava Black and Summit Blue options, at a recommended retail price of NZD $649.
