Seeby Woodhouse returns as Voyager Chief Executive Officer
Voyager has announced that its founder, Seeby Woodhouse, will return as Chief Executive Officer from 1 October 2025.
Woodhouse originally established Voyager in 2010 and previously served as Chief Executive Officer during the company's initial six years, overseeing its early growth and strategic development. He now steps back into the role with a commitment to fostering the company's current momentum rather than initiating a new direction.
"I'm excited and energised to be stepping back into the role of CEO," said Woodhouse. "This is very much a next chapter, not a reset. Voyager has strong momentum, and my focus will be on building on the existing strategy and continuing to deliver great outcomes for our customers and partners."
The leadership transition follows the tenure of Deidre Steyn, who has served as Voyager's Chief Executive Officer since February 2024. Steyn had been with Voyager for over seven years, initially contributing to other roles before moving into the top executive position. During her period as Chief Executive Officer, the company reported strengthened sales performance, an increased emphasis on customer-focused culture, and entry into a further stage of organisational growth.
Steyn will be departing Voyager to assume a senior role at Amazon Web Services. Company representatives have expressed appreciation for her leadership and dedication during her time at Voyager.
"I want to personally thank Deidre for the energy, focus, and leadership she's brought to Voyager. She has made a real difference and leaves the business in a stronger position. While we are sad to see her go, we're proud that a global company like AWS has recognised her world-class talent. On behalf of the Voyager team and our customers, I wish her every success in this exciting next chapter," Woodhouse said.
Reflecting on her time at Voyager, Steyn underscored the achievements accomplished in collaboration with the team and expressed confidence in the company's leadership under Woodhouse's return.
"It has been an absolute privilege to lead Voyager. I am incredibly proud of the momentum we've built together and the way the team has continued to put customers at the heart of everything we do. While it is bittersweet to be moving on, I know Voyager is in great hands with Seeby returning as CEO," Steyn stated.
Continuity
The company has emphasised that the change in leadership will not affect its current strategic direction or operational commitments. Services, partnerships, and client support activities are expected to remain unchanged as Voyager continues to focus on its core offerings, including Cloud, Communication, Connectivity, and Cybersecurity services throughout New Zealand.
Voyager has reassured customers and partners that their focus is on maintaining continuity in service and delivering on existing commitments as Woodhouse takes up his role as Chief Executive Officer. The company believes the new phase under Woodhouse's leadership will build directly on the foundations established in recent years.
Woodhouse returns to Voyager at a time when customer expectations around core technology and security services continue to evolve. The leadership transition underscores the company's stated aim of maintaining business stability while seeking further opportunities for sustainable growth in its key markets.
