Telstra's new Adaptive Networks Centre (ANC) is a digital platform that delivers a step-change experience to enterprise and business customers. The API-first architecture enables a single intuitive interface for managing connectivity.

Marty McGrath, Telstra's Group Owner for Fixed Connectivity in Product and Technology function says, "Adaptive Networks Centre provides digital quoting and design, ordering, visibility and management of network services with much more speed and control than traditional models."

In this initial release, ANC supports Telstra Internet Direct Adapt, the company's enterprise and carrier-grade high performance internet on dedicated fibre, and Telstra's next generation Adaptive Broadband service. But over the coming months, ANC will expand to support Layer 2, Satellite, IPVPN and other services.

McGrath says the new service will make enterprise connectivity simpler, hassle-free and future proofed.

"The speed of modern business is ever increasing in the information and AI era. We are supporting a broader shift in how networks are delivered through intent-based API-driven connectivity. This will enable customers to integrate operations and IT for their business users quickly."

Telstra expects the typical end user to be a network or IT administrator. But the service will also cater to partners who help deliver and manage outcomes for their own clients.

"We have significantly invested in modernising Telstra's network," explains McGrath. "Adaptive Networks Centre (ANC) is built directly and integrated into Telstra's network rather than sitting on top as a separate layer. ANC stands out in the market because it combines a modern digital experience with Telstra's network capabilities where we've always had strong focus on reliability, reach, and security."

In addition, the API-first modular architecture enables customers to move beyond a traditional portal user interface to programmatically engage and interact with Telstra's network directly.

"ANC is not simply an elegant front end. The API-powered foundation puts control in customers' hands, enabling them to configure and adapt services in near real time. The composable technology and modular APIs enable customer-driven innovation. They can self-serve to design, quote, order and activate solutions that work for them."

Adaptive Networks Centre has already garnered early industry recognition. Telstra was a finalist in the Gartner 2025 Eye on Innovation Awards for Communications Service Providers (APAC) and a winner in the TM Forum Excellence Awards in Excellence in the Customer Experience category for "Customer innovation unleashed through inversion of control: The Adaptive Networks Product Experience."

McGrath says, "That recognition reflects that there is a deep need in the industry for great solutions that innovate. Our network, which is recognised as world leading, is the foundation which we have built this solution on, which we'll keep innovating and improving on for our customers."

Looking ahead, McGrath sees a future for ANC that goes far beyond what we see today.

More adaptive products will be delivered through ANC alongside richer APIs for direct integration and consumption by customer systems. There will be deeper telemetry, observability and reporting so organisations can gain greater insight into how the technology can be fine-tuned to maximise return on investment. That will include new commercial models including usage-based and attribute-based pricing.

Interactions with ANC will become increasingly intelligent and will include natural-language style reporting and AI-assisted insights and automation. Network management will become more autonomous.

"Adaptive Networks Centre is not just about creating a network for today. We want our customers and partners to be ready for whatever comes next. By embracing an API-driven network platform that enables organisations to procure, configure and consume network services in the way that best suits them they can continue to innovate, so their businesses are ready for the challenges that lie ahead," says McGrath.

To get started with Adaptive Networks Centre, customers can reach out to one of Telstra's experts or visit www.telstra.com/anc to begin their ANC journey. Once onboarded, customers can access ANC 24/7 and start using the next generation of enterprise and business networking.
